Christian Ouaka

Executive director

Christian Ouaka, originally from Côte d'Ivoire, has been Executive Director of the Association des francophones du Nunavut since 2020. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, a Bachelor degree in Public Relations and a Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Université de Moncton, with experience in management and in the international and Canadian Francophonie. His career path includes milestones in Belgium, France and Canada, notably as a parliamentary assistant in the Walloon Parliament, studies in Poitiers and student associations in Canada. A passionate outdoorsman, he combines leadership and commitment.

Félicie Wingerter

Programming Manager

Félicie Wingerter is an accomplished craftswoman in the performing arts, from creation to dissemination, through all stages of production. Passionate about the performing arts, she is responsible for the Programmation at AFN, where she is co-Artistic Director and Cultural Presenter at Franco-Centre. Ever more audacious, Félicie stands out for her desire to develop a high-calibre cultural offering in Iqaluit, to promote the local artists and to have Nunavut recognized as an essential venue for presentation.

Gabrielle Poulin

Manager and Editor-in-Chief

Gabrielle Poulin is a proud Franco-Ontarian turned Franco-Nunavian. With degrees in communications, sociology and copy editing, she has always had a passion for languages and writing. It was an opportunity to enter the world of journalism that inspired her move to Iqaluit in 2019. Initially Coordinator of the Local Journalism Initiative in the territories, she became Manager and Editor-in-Chief of Le Nunavoix newspaper in 2021. A communicator at heart, she gives Nunavut's French-language news an informative, down-to-earth flavour.

Karine Lavoie

Journalist

With a bachelor's degree in social work from Université Laval in Quebec City, Karine worked in this field for 12 years. Having always been curious by nature and a great listener to others, journalism appealed to her enormously. In February 2020, she took her first steps as a freelance journalist for the three territories.Since April 2022, she has been working full-time for the Local Journalism Initiative for Le Nunavoix. She loves learning more about a variety of subjects.

Radio manager - CFRT 107,3 FM

Saïda Tambadou, born April 27, 1989 in Pointe-Noire (Congo), is manager of CFRT 107.3 FM radio station.

She holds a college diploma in business management and a bachelor's degree in business management from Sherbrooke Académie (Morocco), as well as a bachelor's degree in business administration from Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia.

Saïda Tambadou's dynamic personality and strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills enabled her to take her first steps in the media world in 2022, when she joined the Association des francophones du Nunavut in Iqaluit in the position of radio coordinator.

At the same time, she is working on various projects: the advertising strategy for the two media (radio and newspaper) and the strategic merger of the two media.

Denis holds a B.A. in history/political studies from the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as training in philosophy/psychology from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). He also trained in radio at the École d'animation et de communication Stéphan Roy.

His journalistic and animation career began in 1999 at CHOD-FM (Cornwall, Ontario). He has produced numerous programs for ARC du Canada stations, including Les Rendez-Vous Historiques and Info-30. He has also been responsible for news bulletins for a dozen ARC stations via his own company, Les Productions Educom. Inc. Since 2006, he has added storytelling to his CV, having completed over 800 projects for various agencies in North America, such as the Government of Canada, McDonald's Restaurants, Ford and Microsoft.

Since 2016, he has hosted CFRT's morning show (Iqaluit Matin), as well as Iqaluit Midi and Iqaluit Weekend.

KARA HOANG

Communications and Marketing Manager

Kara Hoang is Communications and Marketing Manager at AFN. She studied Global Business and Digital Arts at the University of Waterloo and Management and Economics at the University of Lausanne, where she acquired skills in both business and technology.Prior to joining AFN, Kara worked in French-Canadian productions, where her responsibilities included campaign planning, animation and content creation.

Outside of work, Kara enjoys exploring new places and capturing unique moments through her camera. Kara is currently Communications and Marketing Manager for AFN, where she is working on the implementation of a digital marketing strategy. It also wants to develop partnerships with local organizations to strengthen AFN's involvement in the community.

MANAGER OF THE QAUJIMANIQ TRAINING CENTER

Marie-France has lived in Iqaluit since 2013. She is a chiropractor by training, and has also studied management and communications. She also serves her community as a birth attendant (doula) and volunteer for La Leche League Canada (breastfeeding support organization). When she has a little free time, Marie-France cooks for her family, knits or tends to her garden.

Since November 2022, Marie-France has been the manager of the Qaujimaniq Training Centre, which reports to the Association des francophones du Nunavut. She brings to the organization her knowledge of the community and her enthusiasm for lifelong learning. She is responsible for setting up a training center for French-speaking adults in Nunavut, so that everyone can achieve personal and professional fulfillment. Its mandate includes developing and managing the center, structuring partnerships and financing, and organizing course delivery.
