The only cultural and community center in Nunavut
the Franco-Centre is a must-see in Iqaluit and Nunavut. The Franco-Centre is a rich and varied cultural venue and multidisciplinary center, offering over 200 days of artistic, cultural, community and political activities annually. It is the only center of its kind in Nunavut.
A cultural center
Equipped with a permanent stage, lighting, acoustics and professional-quality audio equipment, the Franco-Centre hosts and presents a multitude of professional shows from here and abroad.
Professionals and amateurs alike are always happy to meet up at Jam-Café, extremely varied and ultra-popular open-mic evenings. Alternating between throat singing, rap tunes or drum solos, depending on the mood of the musicians, these evenings are particularly popular all year round.
Since 2022, Franco-Centre has also hosted the Festival de cirque Arctique (Arctic Circus Festival), which runs for more than a week each year and features numerous circus shows, specialized workshops, mediation activities, acrobatic film screenings and much more! The Festival de cirque arctique is the only large-scale event dedicated to the circus arts in the Far North, and is the brainchild of the Franco-centre fire team!

An artistic residency
Franco-Centre supports artistic creation by offering free annual creative residencies, as well as a much-appreciated first showcase for local artists.

Exhibition space
The Franco-Centre’s warm, welcoming environment and careful lighting make it the ideal venue for a variety of exhibitions, from visual art and photography to book launches.
A place to celebrate
Unique in the city, the Franco-Centre bar is the only place in town where you can find top-of-the-range cocktails, a variety of microbrewery beers and a selection of specially imported wines.
Franco-Centre definitely shines at night too!
A gathering place
The Franco-Centre is the preferred gathering place for Francophones in Nunavut, who organize all kinds of activities. From gourmet events such as traditional oyster and lobster suppers and sugar shack meals, to family-oriented community events like Francourse, movie nights and yoga lessons, the Franco-Centre brings people together and helps strengthen the social fabric of the community.

Cross-cultural bridge
Franco-Centre is not the exclusive domain of Nunavut’s francophones! It’s always a pleasure for us to create partnerships in the community, and we’re always proud to host or contribute to various events, both Anglophone and Inuit (Alianait, Toonik time, Nunavut theater Company, Positive Nunavut, ACAN, etc.).
In short, whether you’re a fan of music, theater, circus, dance or visual arts, or simply looking for a place to gather, rest assured that Franco-Centre will have something (everything) to please you.
